The images below hadn’t at all been planned. I was walking across campus when I saw 2 baby birds, dead, under a small tree on the hot asphalt. I don’t know what came over me, but I picked them both up with a tissue and took them home to photograph. I used white fabric as my background and window light as my light source. They are now buried behind my house under a big tree. I’m sorry they never got the chance to experience life and all its wonders.

I hope you enjoy.

A Sad Beginning

Another Photoshop project implemented over the course of the past week . We were to choose a word -any word- then create a collage, and a text based image for that word. I chose the word “decay” and documented a 5 day process of a whole chicken (raw, purchased from the grocery store) deteriorate. It was quite an interesting (and smelly) experience, but I enjoyed how my extension tubes allowed me to shoot macro images.

The purpose of the text image was to juxtapose decayed and pristine metal. I used a text mask and carefully painted in the rust stains. I like how it turned out, hope you do too.
